CS Sen. Mutahi Kagwe, has chaired a strategic meeting with the KIAMIS Project Steering Committee, alongside Bungoma Governor H.E. Kenneth Makelo Lusaka (as the co-chair), to chart a unified digital future for Kenya’s agriculture sector.
The high-level forum focused on forging synergies, harnessing lessons learned, cutting operational costs, and driving performance through enhanced transparency, traceability, and accountability across the sector.
Following the successful implementation of the KIAMIS farmer registration, supported by the Swedish Government through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the system has delivered tangible benefits. Notably through the E-Subsidy Module, which has streamlined input distribution to farmers.
As multiple innovative E-Systems continue to emerge within the Ministry, the meeting presented a timely opportunity to harmonize and integrate platforms such as KIAMIS, Mezzanine, and other digital tools into a single, robust system.
CS Kagwe emphasized our policy direction, stating:
“We are committed to consolidating all agricultural information systems under one unified platform, anchored at the Agricultural Information and Resource Centre (AIRC). This will not only improve service delivery but ensure data-driven decision-making at every level.”
The move marks a decisive step toward a digitally integrated and farmer-focused agricultural sector.
In attendance were, PSs: PS, Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, @Hon. Jonathan Mueke, CBS, Patrick Kilemi (Cooperatives), Tipo Nyabenyi (Country Representative – FAO Kenya), Marie Ottoson (Embassy of Sweden) , Agriculture CEC Nyeri, James Wachihi and other senior officials from the Ministry.
